Protest Song
The Aristocracy
Everybody fall in line
Don’t have a thought or speak your mind.
We’ll tell you what you should know
Because our saying makes it so.
You don’t need the daily news
Just subscribe to all our views.
Here’s the kool-aid – have a drink.
Now you don’t even have to think.
The Proletariat
Under the sun, there’s nothing new.
Power remains in the hands of a few.
Their money shields them from concern
They watch, uncaring, as our world burns.
Infrastructure crumbling, people in need.
Leaders blinded by their greed.
Raids in your churches, humans in chains,
Dying species. Acid rain.
Poisonous food on our grocery shelves,
Oligarchs enrich themselves.
Young and old, pushed aside.
Swaths of people marginalized.
A drug trade supported through legal means
While dark money hides political schemes.
It’s so easy to whitewash the truth.
What’s the example for our youth?
The Revolutionaries
Perhaps it’s the young who will guide us through.
Understanding how much there is to do.
Good must grow and love must win.
Never give up. Never give in.
How sad to realize that these words speak our truth. Speak out, folks! It may be our last defense, our only hope.
